Sweet Peony Press was created out of a love of beautiful graphic design, wedding planning and antiques.

The adventure began when I set out to design my own wedding invitations. As a professional graphic designer, this was an easy and enjoyable part of the wedding preparations. My favourite flower, the peony, was chosen as our wedding motif, lending its gorgeous blousy blooms and intoxicatingly sweet fragrance to the beauty of our wedding day. I absolutely loved planning every detail of the event and missed it when that it was over. I continued to design unique invitations for friends and family and found myself fantasizing about starting a business.

Simultaneously, my husband and I began filling our new home with treasures found at various antique shows. It was at these shows that we started noticing antique printing paraphernalia. I had always admired the texture and richness of letterpress printing, but when I realized that I could produce this kind of work myself on an antique press, I became intrigued. I joined a guild and learned the art of letterpress printing. Eventually, I purchased a press on which I could churn out my own designs one sweet impression at a time.

Soon after my first son’s birth, I decided that I was going to make my dream come true, and that year, my business was born as well. And what better name, than one that reminds me of my own wonderful wedding day? Sweet Peony Press now creates designs with personality, detail and beauty, that bring joy to peoples’ lives and that celebrate their most precious moments with style. What could be sweeter than that?
